A 12 acre park located in the heart of historic Charleston. At the foot of Vendue Range (a street in Charleston), sits a fountain. From the fountain, Vendue Wharf is a wide, wooden pier with swings that spreads into the Cooper River. A floating dock is attached with unobstructed views of the Ravenel Bridge, Charleston Harbor, Castle Pinckney, the U.S.S. Yorktown at Patriot's Point, and Fort Sumter. The largest portion of the park along Concord St. and Prioleau St. for approximately one-quarter mile is a dense canopy of oak trees with benches. Across is a shady park and immediately next to the riverfront is an open lawn displaying the focal point of the park, Charleston's iconic pineapple fountain, with 1200 feet of South Carolina's famed palmetto trees flanking it. At Exchange Street, the park merges into restored salt marshes where pedestrians can walk to the edge of the river at this point from Exchange Street to North Adger's Wharf.
