November - Charleston International Film Festival

Produced by Charliewood Pictures, this festival was created to showcase the art of film-making, its filmmakers, directors, actors and the cinephile. Their goal is to educate the community on the arts and sciences of film-making. This 5 day event at the Charleston Music Hall includes, film viewings of shorts and features, workshops, receptions, after parties and the awards gala on the final night.

October - Fall Tour of Homes

This fall experience is one of Charleston’s best-kept secrets. Created by the Charleston Preservation Society to provide, self guided tours of private homes and gardens, lecture's, and original Charleston based guided tours. This is the opportunity to see the historic homes and learn about the history, architecture & how Charlestonians in the past lived. Reservations are required and tickets may be limited.

September - Charleston Restaurant Week

Keep the summer going just a little longer and make a date with Restaurant Week in Charleston. One of the most anticipated culinary events in the Charleston area. Providing an opportunity to sample some of the top kitchens in the Lowcountry that offer Prix Fix lunch and dinner menus to enjoy a real taste of Charleston.

September - Taste of Charleston

A 3 day event, hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, in late September, celebrates Charleston's favorite restaurants. Sample sized portions are served by popular Lowcountry local kitchens. Wine and Beer are available as are a specialty and imported beer tasting tent and live music by a locally known headliner on the main stage. Don't miss the legendary "Waiter's Race". This is a family friendly event with activities available for all ages.

Spring - Annual Festival of Houses and Gardens

Set over a month in the early spring, tours and educational events are set among the ambience of Charleston's Historic District highlighting Charleston’s architecture, history, gardens and culture. A series of educational events and tours, that vary by day, provide the rare opportunity for attendees to go inside the private historic homes and gardens of some of America’s most intriguing residences. Proceeds benefit the Historic Charleston Foundation.

Spring - Spoleto & Picolo Spoleto Festival USA

 

Charleston is a city that offers the same charm's of Spoleto, Italy, with its, theaters, churches, and other performance spaces. Charleston was selected as an ideal location, for the Italian based experience and has become one of the United States top performing arts festivals. An annual, 17 day event, in late spring, includes 150+ performances in dance, theatre, opera, jazz and classical music at various venues throughout Charleston. Piccolo Spoleto showcases young artists and performers within South Carolina.
